HMTC Week 2: Santa Cebola

I am cutting it close on getting this email out, but I had a full day today with my family as we went up to see our family and to my cousin,

Lauren's wedding reception. I also got to go out with the Sisters in my ward and they are absolutely amazing!

This week has been absolutely amazing. So much power of the Holy Ghost present, especially as my companion and I give practice lessons and I prepare for my farewell talk this Sunday. Monday I travel to Brazil, which is crazy because it feels like just yesterday I started home CTM. At times it feels a little overwhelming but it is so comforting to know that I will be with my amazing companion, district, and teachers.

One funny thing that happened this week is an Elder in our district (who will remain nameless) fell asleep during one of our video calls. He felt bad but none of us blamed him because we were all pretty tired ourselves. There has also been this ongoing conversation and joke between our district and teachers about whether or not the CTM has burritos. By the end of the week it was concluded that they did not, but a shop down the street sells them so hopefully one day we will do a field trip.

One message that really stuck with me this week was from a workshop about the Dom de Linguas (Gift of Tongues). We watched this video about 4 Elders who in the middle of their mission were asked to learn a new language and through faith and hard work they were able to. This story was very inspiring but I especially loved the message that they asked the Lord not what they should do but what they could do. Sometimes we are far more capable than we think we are, but the Lord can help us see our true potential.

Stay Grateful!

P.S. My Companion and I have started saying Holy Moly quite a lot. We decided to look up what they say in portuguese. We came across the phrase Santa Cebola (holy onion) which supposedly means the same as holy moly. Whether this is the case or not, Sister Brookes and I have taken quite a liking to the phrase and have no doubt that if it was not a popular saying before, we will make it one.
