Sao Domingos: Heartbreak is real... πŸ’”

Despite the fact the my heart is 100% locked here on my mission, this week my companion and I both managed to get our hearts broken.

Two weeks ago we received a reference and he was ELECT! I'm talking, we studied in the Book of Mormon with him everyday, and he was eating it up! Totally understanding everything that we taught him and he could feel the power of the Book of Mormon and the gospel changing his life and bringing more peace! Well... last Sunday he found out we don't drink and he drinks a lot of coffee.

Tuesday, he messaged us and said he wanted to stop meeting with us. Despite our best efforts to try and call and explain, he left us on a "it's not you it's me." It literally felt like a breakup! Nothing we said would change his mind. He even said he would give us the Book of Mormon back if we wanted πŸ₯Ί( but that he would love to keep it).

Well, that night we decided we needed to get out and do something to get our mind off the break up and as we walked down the street, we see a car crash. Like the car crash happens in front of our eyes. A drunk driver hits a parked car, keeps driving, hits another parked car and flips over. Lucky, no one was hurt, but let's just say that was enough adventure for one night.

Well, we might have lost one of our gold investigators but we still have our chef friend, Ariston and our friends who give us free churros. After a spirit packed lesson with the Elders of Vista Verde and the Assistants, we decided we should take Ariston to the Temple Visitor Center.

Since we were already going, we decided to reach out one last time and invite our friend who broke our hearts and reluctantly he agreed. The São Paulo temple is beautiful and the Sisters of the Visitor Center do such an amazing job! (It was fun to see some of the Sisters that I met in the CTM). While at the visitor center, our elect leans over to my companion and says "you brought me here because you knew it would change my mind." (Claro que sim!!) But, really it is the Lord who knew! 😎

Ariston also loved the Visitor Center, and later that day some members said we could bring him with us to lunch. Both of these star investigators came to Stake Conference on Sunday where we got to see President and Sister Cook!! 🀩

So in the end... it was a good week and this week we are really going to be preparing Ariston to try and have his baptism this Saturday before my companion leaves. That's right... transfers are this next week and so I have one week left with my amazing trainer, Sister Olson and then who knows what will happen!!

This week being at the temple I was reminded how special a thing it is that we have the sealing power to binge families together forever. I am so grateful that I can be with my family together forever and I love them so much. This week, I challenge you all to let your family know you love them, and share about the temple with a friend.
