Jandira: A Whole New World
First week in Jandira down, who knows how many more weeks to go, but this area is blessed.
First off it's a new area, new companion, new language (jk), new house, new way of doing things. We live 4 Sisters in one house (only one bathroom which is a recipie for disaster) and all of us are working together in the same area, undivided. Sister Evangelista and I are both training Sisters who speak Spanish which is super funny because in the house we speak a mixture of English, Spanish, and Portuguese! My companion is Sister Franco from Paraguay and she is so sweet!
One things about the culture here is that everyone takes a shower before bed and then again when they wake up in the morning. After a few days being here, no one had taken a shower at night. So I asked the Sisters why, and Sister Rivero (the other trainee) was so sweet and said "we just do what you guys do, and we didn't see you guys take a shower." It was such a sweet and funny moment, and also sureal to see that our example is so important. As I try to help my companion learn new things, I have found the best way is to be an example because she will do what she sees me doing.
The Sisters here before us left a lot of work to do and so we have been working nonstop to help these people and continue finding new people. I miss my old ward and area a lot, it was so nice to know where everything is and know all the members, but I can really see the hand of the Lord in my life here and I know that he is guiding us.
We have big shoes to fill in this area as the Sisters here before were beloved by the ward and had lots of success, but I am just really excited.
Untill next week!
