Jandira: Animal Whisperer

So much happened this week that it feels like it has been longer than 1 week! This week we had a multizone conference which was an absolute blast! I got to see some of the Elders that arrived with me and it is weird to think that they still have over a year left while I only have 9 months!!!

Apparently there is a really good pizza place that they only have in the other half of our mission called Andre's. So I had never tried it before. But.... President and Sister Cook bought Andre's for us to eat for the zone conference, every companionship got a pizza! It was delicious and I hope one day I have the chance to serve where they have an Andre's pizza close but for sure it would make me broke 😅

I got to do a division with the amazing Sister Butikofer (also known as Sister Beautiful 😉) in Cajamar! It was a blast to get to know her better and learn from her! One of my favorite moments was when we ran into a less active member who did not accept our invitation to come to church but he did start testifying about the truth of the gospel and the power of the Book of Mórmon to all of his neighbors! The other highlight was getting to see the chapel of Alphaville which literally looks like a temple (if you can go look at pictures of it on google it is crazy big). We sat there waiting quite a while for the other Sisters to arrive, gawking at the size of the chapel and eating cake. Fun times!

We also taught someone that has a pet snake and I do not think I had ever had the desire to hold a snake in my life before but here I am. The mission changes you. I also held a bird, so yeah, I am becoming an animal person.

My companion cut my hair and if that is not a trust exercise I do not know what is! Don't worry, she did a great job! Also my hair didn't really change 🤣

Yesterday I helped make dessert again at a member's house and we made apple pie! It has been so long since I had apple pie and it was sooooo good!

There is a cat following the other Sisters who live at our house. They taught the owner Friday afternoon and after a day of walking they get home to see the cat in our window😲 It was all fun and games until the same cat came back the next day. A little weird considering the owner does not live that close to us...

We did not have a lot of time to work this week because my companion was feeling a little under the weather, but even with that we gave it our all. My companion is an inspiration to me that even on the days that she isn't feeling well, she always gives her 100% to the Lord! I am so grateful for the chance to have her as my daughter and it is crazy that she has already hit 3 months in the mission!!! 😁😁😁 Children grow up so fast 🥲

Sorry for the super long email, but I hope that you all are doing well! This week our district leader challenged us to study one of the Christlike attributes and so I had the opportunity to study charity! One thing I learned is that in the same way we need to act in faith to grow in faith, we need to act with charity to have more charity. Charity is putting other people before yourself, doing the will of the Lord in place of doing your will. When I first arrived in the mission, my trainer and I shared a message about charity at lunch with the members and we would always leave behind little heart candies. It is crazy to see how my understanding of charity has changed since the start of my mission, as I continue to deepen the way I love and serve others.

I am so grateful for my Savior and the love that he has for me. I know that my Savior lives. I know that this is his church here on the earth. It is in the moments when we have given everything that we can and it is still not enough when we really see the Lord in our life, and we can recognize that he is our strength.

With all my love,
Sister Pinkney
