Jandira: Crying For Joy to Talk to Foreigners

I think this was one of the weeks where I felt the most tired on my mission and we had the most things to do. Things did not go the way we planned or wanted but I am trusting that things are happening the way the Lord needs them to. Last p-day my Dad shared a quote with me that has stuck with me throughout this week.

Plans are worthless but planning is indispensable! - President Eisenhower

It is very rare that things will actually happen the way that we plan them to. And so why do we plan? When we plan, we focus on our desires and our goals. We reach for what we want and what we think is possible. We show the Lord that we have the desire to work. And when things do not go the way we plan, we adapt, we trust in the Lord, and we do the best we can.

This week, I got to do a division with Sister Resendes in Engenho Novo. I thought that where I am in Jandira has a lot of hills but in Engenho Novo the hills were worse. It was fun to get to spend some time with Sister Resendes and get to know her better. One notable experience was a girl who started to cry for joy because she was talking with two foreigners....

We had one friend who was doing so well. He told us that he decided to make the Lord a priority in his life. He said he would switch jobs so that he did not have to work on Sunday and said that he would come to church this Sunday. But, then he stopped responding to our messages. 😅 Hopefully he will return this week!

We had a ward activity this week, and we had a ton of people! And then our ward on Sunday was the fullest it has been since I got here! I love our ward!

Zone p-day today and zone conference tomorrow, so we are super busy but I love you all and have a great week!

P.S. We ate burgers 3 days in a row at this really cool burger place. The best burgers I have had here in Brazil!
