Jandira: Not Hershey's Chocolate World, But Pretty Close
It is really different to have only 2 Sisters in Jandira. We are swamped with work to do and are still getting our footing for where to start. Our house is also really quiet with just 2 people, but I am loving being companions with Sister Clarindo. She is the best and I know that we are going to see a lot of miracles this transfer.
Highlights from this week:
- One member of our ward always lets us help him make the dessert for our lunches and this week we helped make some sort of cake thing. It was really delicious!
- There is a couple in our ward who have been members for a while but they never have gone to the temple. What makes their situation even more complicated is that now the husband is blind. But we até lunch with them this week and they told us they have been taking the temple preparation classes! The temple is such a huge blessing and it made me so happy to hear that they are working towards going!
- Last week as a last hurrah with our district we got to go to this Chocolate store which was huge with lots of fun things to do and places to take pictures. But now I have a lot of chocolate that I need to eat...
- Found out this week that for the longest time I have been calling one of our friends by the wrong name. His name is Michael, but I have been calling him Michelle (which yes, is a girls name). Never going to live that one down. We had planned to invite him to be baptized but before we even got the words out he shut us down, saying that he is already baptized and if it were for him to be baptized into another church he would not want to. But, then he came to church on Sunday, walking 40 minutes in the cold. He said he had thought about going to the pool but decided that church was more important. 🤷♀️
This week was pretty normal but one difference I have felt is the spirit that is present as we are teaching. Preach My Gospel teaches us that our success as missionárias does not depend on the results, but depends on our effort. We can know that we are successful missionaries when we can feel the spirit testify of our words. Whether or not people choose to accept our message, or choose to follow the Savior, I know that we have helped them to feel the spirit and know that these things our true. The testimony that I am growing here on my mission is the most priceless thing to me, and I hope that each and every day I can continue to work at it.
