Monte Serrat: We Trust God

Alma 58:37 But, behold, it mattereth not—we trust God will deliver us, notwithstanding the weakness of our armies, yea, and deliver us out of the hands of our enemies.

This week I finished reading the Book of Alma in the Book of Mórmon, a lot of chapters about war. But I love the fact that as the people trusted in the Lord, he delivered them. It did not matter the size of the armies or their personal weaknesses, he always strengthened them.

As I have gotten a little more experience as a missionary, I feel like I finally have a greater capacity to teach the gospel and to follow the spirit. I am overcome with joy as my companion and have been able to be instruments in the Lord's hands in helping others. But even with the new knowledge and abilities that I have, I know that I need the Lord.

I need the Lord just as I needed him that first week in my new area, in a new country, with a new companion, speaking a new language, doing something I had never done before. I remember the feelings of fear and uncertainty that I had, and yet as I trusted in the Lord, I truly was delivered in those difficult moments. And the Lord does still deliver me.

One day this week I woke up with a member from our ward on my mind. We knew that we had to go their and visit her. And sure enough, it was exactly what she was needing.

Another day, my companion and I could see that we were guided to plan our day just so that we could be at the right place at the right time to teach a family that is less active the message of the restoration. The spirit was so strong, and even more as I saw that we had been able to follow the spirit to be where the Lord wanted us to.

We had a great zone conference and talked about using our talents. So, my companion and I have started singing hymns before teaching a lesson and the spirit is always super strong.

Until next week,

Sister Pinkney
