Sao Domingos: Stuffed Like a Turkey on Thanksgiving

 We have the best ward!

I was very concerned when I got to the field about what we would eat, have money to buy, and be able to cook. I worried for nothing because we have the kindest ward and they feed us the best food! Here lunch is the biggest meal and we eat lunch with the members everyday. It is awesome because:

- Get to practice my Portuguese

- We get to know the members

- I get to try new foods

Here we've done a lot of street contacting but no one so far has been interested in talking with us. So we focus a little more on the members, building up the ward, and seeing if they have anyone we can teach. They are all so kind and patient with me as I struggle to talk in Portuguese.

One really cool experience we had this week is we decided to visit a members house one night because they are recent converts. When we got there all the lights were off and we were not sure if they were home. We rang the doorbell and they came to open the gate. They were confused at first but once we were talking with them they opened up. They told us that we were a miracle coming at just the right time.

They were having some financial concerns and sitting in the dark together wondering what to do when we arrived. We were able to share a message with them and give them hope but after we left they messaged us. Another miracle happened after we left. Someone stopped by and gave them money as a gift out of no where. It is truly is amazing to see the love and care God has for each of His children. He knows exactly what we need.

This week I challenge you all to pray and ask if there is a way you can be a light in someone else life this week! Always remember that God loves you and He knows you.

Seriously though, I've eaten way more food than I should have this week. We keep wanting to go out and buy food to try but we are too stuffed everyday. What a blessing it is to be in this ward!!

Sending hugs miles away!

Sister Pinkney
