Sao Domingos: Suave na Nave
This week was pretty normal. We worked hard, walked a lot, and talked with a ton of people.
The only interesting thing that happened to us happened yesterday. We went to visit our friend who will be baptized this week because he wasn't feeling well. We found him sitting outside drinking coffee with his friend 🥲 His friend was really confused about the fact that we do not drink coffee but also was not willing to listen to the why. But our friend kept defending the word of wisdom. Kept telling his friend, no I won't drink coffee, it is harmful to my body. 😁 In the end my companion asked him, do you have any coffee in your house, will you give it to me? And this we gained a container of coffee..... We took it home to throw out the coffee and wash the container but now our house smells like coffee. Oops.
We had some other strange things happen, like a man on the street stopping us to say we look beautiful and then kneeling down at our feet...
Another day, we were walking down a street and passed a shop. A few moments later we stopped to talk to someone and a man from the store had left to come talk to us. So he is yelling at us from the other side of the street as we are trying to talk to someone asking us if we are Mormons. We talked to him a little, got his number, and then left. He then calls us a few minutes later and says "wait, I have a question about something you said" we went back and he asked, "What is this Book of Mormon that you guys mentioned, I want to read it." We left one with him and have plans to return this week 😁
Other than that, we played tennis today. We are going to bake cookies. Our English class is going strong. They have started playing volleyball at the chapel every week, and the bank gave me a 200 reais bill.
One thing my Dad said to me that has stuck in my mind this week is "We can not save ourselves." In life we try to do everything perfectly, often times putting a lot of pressure on ourselves. But we are not made perfect because of our efforts, we are made perfect through Christ. We can not save ourselves.
Love you all! Have a great week!
